YouTuber Technically Evan has followed up on his ambitious project – building a convincing replica of a Chevy 454 V8 drivetrain out of Lego Expert Builder parts.
The engineer has used a few thousand parts produced back in the 1970s and ‘80s for his build. When fully assembled, the whole thing is 1.2 meters (4 feet) long and weighs around 18 kilograms (40 pounds).
What truly impresses in the model is its finely tuned, precisely working mechanism. The engine has a functioning crankshaft, valves, distribution shaft and pistons. It also has simulated spark plugs that light up upon receiving signals from a Lazer 128 PC also made in the eighties.
The author brought his creation to the Brickworld Chicago Expo in 2022 and was nominated, but never won any awards. This year, he added a functional four-speed transmission to the project and grabbed his hard-earned grand prize.
