This slammed, swanky hot rod can be yours for $150k

The Space Junkie 1.5 seen here was inspired by a 1931MY Chevrolet, but was basically built from the ground up as a unique project car. Its owner asks U.S. $150,000 for it, but will consider barter offers.

The original project was carried out in late 2000s by Ian Russel, famous car customizer and one of the founders of Full Custom Garage. Later on, the car was scavenged for parts to create a new one, named Space Junkie 2.0. The current owner managed to get a hold of its chassis and partially reconstructed the original. To reflect the fact that it was no longer version 1.0, he gave it the version number 1.5.

The Space Junkie 1.5 is an ultra-low-riding hot rod with a retro-futuristic cabin, unique laconic seats, a steering yoke, and an unusual-looking dashboard. The trim is also original all around.

Powering the one-off project car is a 4.4-liter Pontiac V8 assisted by dual Weber carburetors. Its design is based on an original engine dating back to 1951, which explains why some sources say the output doesn’t exceed 120 PS (118 hp / 88 kW). That said, there are no official power or torque ratings.

The images reveal just how low the clearance is despite the large-diameter wheels used. The rims are narrow and also exude a vintage aura. The suspension is air-cushioned, so it can automatically rise by a few centimeters when needed.
