Chevrolet has previously shown us an off-road variant of its Spin van, called Spin Activ. The company revealed the base model today.
The invariably front-driven Chevrolet Spin gets a new radiator grille and headlights shaped like the ones of the Chevrolet Cobalt. The car has restyled rear lights, but is now missing the spare wheel on the trunk door – that is where the number plate sits now. Compared to Activ, the basic Spin comes with no plastic body kit or decorative moldings and has differently-styled fog lamps.
The interiors of both vehicles are identical in terms of layout and structure, but make use of different finishing materials. The base model will ship with a new dashboard design – more like that of the Chevrolet Tracker – and a new steering wheel. Five- and seven-seat variants will be made available, with the rear seat row that can be moved forward or backwards 110 mm (4.3”).
Options include a rear view camera, a cruise control, a multimedia system with a touchscreen display, an air conditioner, a rain sensor, two airbags, ABS and EBD.
Regardless of the trim level, all cars ship with a 1.8-liter gasoline/ethanol engine rated at between 106 and 111 hp (79 – 83 kW). Available transmissions include manual and automatic.
Prices for a refreshed Chevrolet Spin begin at U.S. $16,400, which is $500 above the current model, and reach as high as $21,000.
