Dave SoCal from SoCal Classic Car Storage has seen quite a few cars restored over the years, but this Chevrolet Bel Air is special, because he inherited it from his grandfather.
After more than half a century of use, the vintage coupe demanded a thorough overhaul of its drivetrain, chassis and cabin. SoCal entrusted RMD Garage with this work, and the team ended up spending several thousand hours to get everything done.
This is how the elderly Chevrolet got its 450-hp (336-kW) LS3 V8 mill from a modern Corvette, as well as its Borla exhaust and four-link coilover suspension. Six-piston Wilwood brakes ensured proper deceleration at all times, and the body received a fresh coat of white and wine red.
The interior treatment is every bit as exciting, with fine soft leather covering everything in view and a state-of-the-art HVAC system installed for comfort.
Some collectors may be disappointed to hear that the Chevrolet Bel Air “Legacy’56” is a pure show car, and is not going to be available for sale now or anytime soon.
