Chevrolet hits brake on Blazer EV sales several weeks after launch

Chevrolet has paused the sales of its electric Blazer SUVs after receiving numerous complaints from owners regarding its subpar electronic systems and the infotainment in particular, Automotive News. The Blazer EV will not reappear on sale until all issues have been resolved.

Owners have reported numerous bugs and glitches in the infotainment software, sometimes leading to the system shutting down completely. Some also said they had trouble charging at high-power stations.

Some time ago, a team of reviewers from Edmunds bought a Blazer EV for comprehensive long-term testing and soon announced that it was shaping up to be the reviewers’ most broken car ever. They took it to a dealership with a long list of 23 (!) issues and defects, but it was still trouble-ridden after several days of maintenance.

Chevrolet representatives claim that only very few Blazer EV examples actually encounter software glitches, while the vast majority of the cars shipped so far are exempt. This sounds a little bit funny considering that the company has already stopped delivering new SUVs to the dealerships and issued a no-sale order on all vehicles stored in the warehouses. We suspect that once all issues have been identified and properly addressed, Chevrolet may need a full-scale recall to fix the EVs already delivered.

In the United States, the battery-powered Blazer exists in wo AWD specs priced from $56,700.
