General Motors has a rough beginning of the year with a minor recall campaign concerning some recently shipped Chevrolet Blazer, Blazer EV, Equinox, and GMC Terrain units. The affected cars have doors that can swing open on the highway potentially causing trouble, Carscoops reports.
Apparently, a batch of faulty door lock components supplied by Brano Group was never tempered to withstand the nominal workloads. This means that, if your car is affected, one of the door locks may suddenly fall apart while on the road and cause the door to swing open – an unpleasant implication, to say the least.
GM says it was able to identify the issue quickly and narrow it down to just 265 shipped cars, including just one Blazer and a single Blazer EV. If yours happens to be affected, you will receive a notification in February and will need to visit a dealership for a full lock mechanism replacement on all four doors.
The company adds that it is unaware of any incidents potentially linked to the issue.
