Chevrolet Blazer is not quite what we expected

The U.S. car manufacturer Chevrolet has launched a teaser campaign for its newest SUV named Blazer by posting a pic of… well, a man’s jacket. Talk about immature jokes.

The photos immediately caused a stir on Chevrolet’s official Facebook page. The company went with the caption “The hottest look of the year. Coming soon” for the images, prompting some to comment that neither the male model nor the color or the cut of the blazer were particularly hot – or even lukewarm, for that matter.

Some said we should search for hidden cues in the images, such as the possible body or interior color of the upcoming Chevrolet Blazer SUV.

The vehicle should enjoy its official premiere before the end of the year, but there is still no announcement when or where. According to unconfirmed sources, the off-road-capable piece of clothing will be based on the C1XX automotive architecture – the same as in the GMC Acadia, Chevrolet Traverse, and Cadillac XT5.

The car might get a high-end 3.6-liter naturally-aspirated V6 gasoline engine capable of 314 hp / 234 kW and a 2.5-liter V4 with 197 hp / 147 kW. This hasn’t been made official yet, though.

Once out, the new Chevrolet Blazer will occupy the market niche between Equinox and Traverse. This allows us to make an educated guess about the price. Since an Equinox currently costs U.S. $23,500 and above, and a Traverse would be at least $30,000, the Blazer series will likely begin at $25,000-ish.

After their North American market debut, the SUVs will make their way to Europe, China, South America, and Africa.
