Historical Chevy Blazer becomes a paragon of SUV restoration

There is a fan following around Ringbrothers, and no wonder: the tuning team is setting the bar for the rest of the scene with its mind-blowing restomods. This 1972 Chevrolet Blazer, which took 2,800 hours to build and looks factory-new, is no exception.

The project began with a full body replacement. The tuners designed new quarterpanels and lifted the tailgate a bit to be more in line with the side profile. They niftily concealed the door handles at the top of the doors and put a two-piece aluminum roof where the original hardtop used to be. It is still easily removable.

The interior received an even more impressive do-over with custom-made seats trimmed by Steve Pearson of Upholstery Unlimited, new décor all around, a nice instrument panel trim, and new steering wheel and gauges.

A 6.2-liter LS3 V8, very often used in projects like this one, slotted under the hood after some tuning at Wagner Motorsports. A modern automatic transmission was installed to deliver 435 PS (430 hp / 321 kW) and 576 Nm (425 lb-ft) of torque. Thoroughly upgraded suspension and brakes rounded off the impressive build.

Ringbrothers says you can “go anywhere” and “do everything” in a restomod like this. Check out the full video for a complete overview of the project.
