Half-a-century-old Chevrolet C10 gets a modern V8

Mecum’s Auctions is offering this neat-looking 1971 Chevrolet C10 restomod for sale. What’s so special about it?

The main highlight would be the engine. In its stock form, the truck shipped with anything between 115 and 155 horsepower (86 – 115 kW) under the hood. By swapping it to the General Motors Small Block V8 5.7 LS1, the tuner multiplied the output several times. The LS1 comes factory-rated at 345 hp (257 kW), and while we do not know the exact numbers of this turbo build, it could very well be capable of around 500 hp (370 kW).

The restorer took the body completely apart, painting the frame black and the body Lime Green. It stripped the truck of most of its small details, such as the moldings, chrome strips, door handles and side mirrors, resulting in a very clean-looking ride.

The stock wheels yielded their place to 24-inch American Racing Wheels, necessitating larger fenders. An air suspension kit was installed for maximum style points.

The cabin looks minimalistic, but still benefits from opulent natural leather and Alcantara tonally set off by the stitching. New additions include a retro-style steering wheel, aluminum pedals, and an expensive audio set.
