Tuner stuffs Dodge Challenger engine into a vintage truck

In its latest YouTube video, Autotopia LA talks about this radical Chevrolet C10 fitted with an 850hp engine, among other highlights.

The compact-sized pickup dating all the way back to 1959 received the fiery heart of the iconic Dodge Challenger SRT Hellcat Redeye. The 6.2-liter supercharged V8 made its way under the hood alongside the six-speed manual gearbox, and the drive stayed on the rear axle.

Aftermarket upgrades included a K&N sports air filter, a bespoke exhaust system, better fuel injectors, and a new pulley. In the end, the truck showed nearly 750 hp (559 kW) at the dyno, which roughly corresponds to 850 hp (634 kW) at the engine output end.

The car has been completely overhauled with air suspension, Wilwood brakes and 20-inch HRE Performance forged wheels wrapped in ultra-wide Mickey Thompson rubber.

For its own part, the cab received a Dakota digital dash, a tri-spoke steering wheel made of aluminum, and a premium-grade audio system.

Perhaps the most interesting part (at least, to us) is that Autotopia LA managed to keep the weight of its Chevrolet C10 approximately 800 lbs (363 kg) under that of the Dodge Challenger SRT Hellcat with the same engine. We wouldn’t mind at all seeing the 60-year-old pickup race the modern muscle car for victory!
