Chevrolet C10 has never been so close to asphalt before

This ultra-low-riding Chevy C10 “Compadre” made its first public appearance at the SEMA show three years ago and has since been slightly revised. Let’s give it another look.

Tre 5 Customs started things off by stripping the 53-year old pickup clean of all kinds of visual clutter, both inside the cabin and outside. The outcome is both modern and laconic, and makes for quite a fashion statement.

The stock wheels yielded their place to new forged rims 22 inches across, and Slam SS7 air cushions were installed in place of the regular suspension springs. The stance is so low, we’d imagine ants preferring to walk around the sides of the car, rather than crouching underneath.

Powering the restomod is a modern 5.7-liter LS1 V8 with new cylinder head assembly and software. A four-speed automatic transmission helps deliver around 350 hp (261 kW) to the wheels.

Tre 5 Customs succeeded with the “stylish and understated” look for the cabin. There is no in-your-face luxury, true, but look closely, and you will see fine leather on the seats and nice retro chrome details, like the cup holders between the seats. Oh, and check out the steering wheel while you’re at it: the spokes actually mimic those of the wheels! It’s details like these that make for a truly great restomod, don’t you agree?
