Hemmings has recently put up for sale a decently well-kept 1972 Chevrolet C20 truck with a few mods slapped on, including a crew cab conversion. Would you say it’s worth the $10,764 USD asking price?
The first thing that catches attention is how monstrously long the pickup is. Apparently, its Oklahoma owner did not like the standard single cab, so he remodeled it into a crew cab. He seemingly also stretched the bed a little. All in all, the car is said to have ended up with 42 inches (108 centimeters) of extra length.
Note in particular the B-pillar, which has a weird triangular extension at the top. The reason is prosaic: the owner could not find any rear doors for the conversion, so he put in two rows of front doors instead. He used sheet steel for the flooring and took care to properly reinforce (fishplate) the rear half of the cabin.
Powering the Frankencar is a 5.7-liter V8, but it seems like it is not the original LS9. The transmission, suspension and brakes are said to be in good condition, while the body and the tires show some wear. The cabin is nice and tidy, but modern equipment is lacking, and what equipment there is is only partially functioning.
So, how about handing over $10,764 for this one?
