If you have been paying attention to out SEMA show reports, you may remember this excellent motorhome based on a half-a-century-old pickup truck. Mecum Auctions will be selling it on Friday, May 21, for an estimated price between U.S. $175,000 and $200,000.
A 1972 Chevrolet C30 single-ton truck provides the chassis. A Mitchell living module resides on top of it, but there is precious little of it that remains stock. Throughout 2,200 hours of painstaking work, tuners have completely restored the exterior and replaced the entire OEM bodywork with lightweight aluminum panels.
The inside space has also been spruced up with modern furniture and equipment, and trimmed in green to match the body. Amenities include a kitchen with a sink, a microwave oven, a fridge and a freezer, a bathroom with a shower and a WC, and a queen-size bed located above the cab.
Powering the motorhome is a 6.6-liter V8 that drives the wheels through a four-speed automatic transmission.
