Hennessey Performance displayed a unique Chevrolet Camaro ZL1 1LE Exorcist at its last year’s SEMA stand. Boosted to 1,000 hp (745 kilowatts), the sports car caused quite a stir back then. Now, the same team has presented the Resurrection, which takes performance to a new level still.
The base vehicle is still the good old ZL1 1LE, but it comes engine-swapped to the Corvette ZR1 mill normally rated at 765 hp (570 kW) and 969 Nm (715 lb-ft) of torque. Many would call this kind of performance plenty enough for their needs – but not Hennessey, who just can’t abide by stock specs.
The tuner begins by increasing the displacement volume to full seven liters, upgrading the supercharger, the exhaust, air intake, and fuel systems, and the cylinders and pistons. In the end, they have 1,200 hp (895 kW) and 1,356 Nm (1,000 lb-ft) of maximum torque at the dyno.
Boosted like this, the Hennessey Resurrection Chevrolet Camaro ZL1 1LE zaps from zero to 60 mph (97 km/h) in 2.3 seconds and finishes the quarter-mile drag strip in 9.3 seconds. A ten-speed automatic transmission is recommended for use with this conversion package, but you may opt for six-speed manual if you are feeling adventurous.
The exterior of the Camaro show car stays stock save for the carbon hood cover and the Resurrection wrap on the sides, but floor the gas, and realization will dawn at once.
