The C6 Chevrolet Corvette ZR1 was not called ‘Blue Devil’ for nothing. Co-designed under the supervision of General Motors ex-CEO Richard ‘Rick’ Wagoner, it became the company’s fastest and most powerful Corvette of all time, in some aspects superior even to the twice-as-expensive Ferrari 599 and Audi R8 V10. Unfortunately, its LS9 V8 never made it into another car series.
This is what makes the project by U.S. tuner Fesler Moss so special. The company takes the Blue Devil powertrain and puts it into modern Chevy Camaro coupes, even powering it up a bit in the process. The standard values of 647 hp (482 kW) and 823 Nm (607 lb-ft) of torque become 705 hp (526 kW) and 920 Nm (680 lb-ft).
This becomes possible thanks to larger fuel injectors, forged pistons, a new distribution shaft, a Magnuson intercooler and a plethora of other components. Options include a custom exhaust system, body kit, suspension and wheels. The cabin gets a makeover involving fine leather with red carbon inserts.
Fesler Moss does not provide any sprint times for its vehicles. Prices revolve around the U.S. $75,000 mark.
