Unbelievably enough, this 50-year-old Chevy Camaro received its full makeover and modernization treatment in two days’ time. Let us see what it ended up with.
Opening the list is a swap to the popular Chevrolet LS3 V8 6.2 engine boosted to deliver 580 horsepower (433 kilowatts) to the rear wheels via a Bowler six-speed automatic transmission. This sounds particularly interesting once you remember that the 1970 Camaro had a four-speed manual box in its factory form.
The new suspension is based on Ridetech coilovers, and four-piston Baer calipers installed on 330mm (13-inch) brake discs provide for adequate deceleration. The rims are Forgeline ML3C 18”, and the tires are BFG Rival-S 275/35 R18.
Other than this, the body mainly stays stock, save for new LED-based lighting all around, chrome-coated bumpers, and a custom exhaust system. The cabin has much more to show than that, including Recaro bucket seats, an AutoX dashboard, and fine leather trim all around. A multi-area climate control system, high-end Kicker-KMC20 audio, and power steering are also included.
Altogether not too shabby for a 48-hour project, don’t you agree?
