Marvel at this murdered-out 1968 Camaro restomod with 700 HP under the hood

Few other vehicles are as loved by U.S. car restorers as the first-gen Chevrolet Camaro. This example comes to us from the distant late 1960s and manages to combine the weight of a modern Ford Fiesta with the kick of a Shelby Mustang GT500.

The restomod – which is up for grabs in the States right now – keeps a low profile on the outside, appearing stock except for the blacked-out look and tinted windows. 18-inch Forgeline wheels are another hint at things being far from stock, but to find out just how far, you need to pop up the hood.

A 6.2-liter LS3 V8 powers the retro coupe in tandem with a six-speed Tremec stick shift. The wheels receive around 600 hp (450 kW) and 950 Nm (700 lb-ft) of torque, which corresponds to roughly 700 hp (522 kW) at the crank. The numbers look even more astonishing if you consider that the curb weight of the car is as low as 1,324 kilos (2,929 lbs).

Another major highlight of the project is the cabin, which greets the viewer with abundant leather on the seats, Alcantara on the ceiling and carbon fiber pretty much everywhere else. The driver takes advantage of a more convenient gear stick, a Vintage Air conditioning system and an up-to-date infotainment system linked to a high-end audio set. The steering wheel and dashboard are also new, and the pedals wear fancy aluminum pads.
