A 2001 Chevrolet Camaro Z57 has recently gone on sale in the United States for $32,000. Its owner put it into a one-off body kit that makes it look another half a century older.
The owner claims he drew inspiration from Chevrolet cars of the year 1957, prioritizing his own vision over just copying the designs. This is unsurprising, given that the first Camaro only came out a decade later – in 1967 – and looked completely different (see video). In other words, what we see here is a quasi-retro styling package.
Included are a new front fascia, a cleaner-looking rear end with aerodynamic stabilizers, and quarterpanels with white inserts in them. The rest of the body is black with a blue flame graphics adorning the front. Rounding things off are chrome wheels in the arches that just might pass off as retro from enough distance.
The cabin features power steering, climate control, power front seats wrapped in leather, and power windows.
Propulsion comes courtesy of a 5.7-liter LS V8 rated at around 300 HP (225 kW). A four-speed A/T sends the momentum to the rear.
