Many niche automakers refer to the past for their exterior design inspirations, and we can imagine car restoration shops being happy with the trend. For today, let’s check out a 52-year-old Chevrolet Camaro swapped to 850 horsepower.
The restomod sports a gloss-black body with no chrome to be seen anywhere and a clean overall look. The taillights and even the headlights are darkened considerably, and two discreet matte-black stripes run down the hood, the roof and the trunk.
The chassis has been thoroughly overhauled with four-link rear suspension on the rear axle, sports-grade brakes all around, and a Detroit Speed subframe at the front. The wheels aren’t mentioned, but broad Mickey Thompson tires suggest the owner doesn’t mind an occasional day at the track.
Pop open the hood, and you will see why the owner bothered to have all the high-end upgrades installed. A 6.2-liter Chevrolet LSX V8 found there gets plenty of added thrust from a Whipple supercharger and an electronically controlled throttle valve housing. Rather than churning out its usual 436 PS (430 hp / 320 kW), the mill slams the wheels with 862 PS (850 hp / 634 kW).
