Motor Trend claims the new Camaro coupe may wind up with a 6.2-liter LT4 V8 engine supercharged to deliver 677 PS (668 hp / 498 kW).
The Camaro ZL1 will be the last special edition before the model retires permanently. Along with the engine, it might end up borrowing other Cadillac parts, such as carbon-ceramic brakes. Sales are expected to begin in two years. By 2026, an electric sedan will probably come to replace the struggling sports car.
General Motors is not satisfied with the sales of the Camaro and intended to discontinue it by 2024, but later reconsidered its intentions in favor for 2026.
The sixth and last generation of the Camaro came out in 2016 and sold the worst of all. Dealerships managed to move only around 7,000 cars in the first quarter of 2021 and around 2,700 in the second quarter.
The successor to the failed Camaro model will be created from the ground up as a new car, but will stick to the popular name of its predecessor.
