This Chevy 789 Frankencar takes styling cues from 3 late 1950s-era cars

Gene Langmesser, a talented craftsman, bought a completely new Chevy Camaro only to strip it down to the chassis and turn it into a unique ride known as the Chevy 789.

Designing the body alone necessitated around 680 kilograms (1,500 lbs) of modeling clay. Only when Langmesser was completely satisfied with the result did he proceed to make the bodywork from carbon fiber interlayered with GFRP for the best exterior painting results. He invested over 5,000 hours into the project.

The number 789 has a special meaning for the build: the 7 alludes at the facelifted 1957 Chevrolet Bel Air, which inspired the nose of the car. The 8 hints at the Delray that came out a year after the Bel Air and inspired the middle portion of the body. Finally, the tail reveals obvious 1959 Chevy Impala parallels.

Power comes from a 6.2-liter eight-cylinder engine, and the curb weight does not exceed 1,675 kilograms (3,685 lbs).
