This 1,200-HP, RWD Chevy Camaro is not for the frail of heart

Lopez Performance has attended this year’s SEMA show with an eye-catching and adrenaline-pumping 1969 Chevrolet Camaro restomod. Co-designed with the famous Sean Smith, the ride was boosted to hypercar levels of power.

The body design progressed in several stages – from hand-drawn sketches to various 3D renderings to the final carbon-fiber body kit. Most of it, including both bumpers and the radiator grille, have been fabricated specifically for this project alone. That said, Speedkore did donate a premade hood cover, and Brixton supplied the Forged VI4 wheels (19x10” front, 20x12” rear).

A new supercharged V8 slotted into the engine bay along with a plethora of performance mods that let it hit the transmission with a cool 1,217 PS (1,200 hp / 895 kW). That’s a six-speed manual, by the way, with the drive still on the rear wheels. Six-piston brake calipers were added at both ends. Even so, driving a RWD car as crazy powerful as this must feel like a nightmare to all but the most experienced drivers.

A complete interior overhaul rounded off the project. Everywhere you look is either black or brown leather, the steering wheel, the dashboard and the center console look modern, and there is a concealed climate control system on board along with some high-end speakers.
