An exotic 1989 Chevrolet Camaro with a Targa roof and high-end Iroc-Z internals has cropped up on sale with around 700 km (435 miles) on the odometer. The bidding has already reached $51,000, but the auction is not over.
The Iroc-Z version of the Camaro was introduced as a homage to the same-name racing series in 1985. It featured a superior engine palette, Bilstein shock absorbers, shorter suspension springs, and a revised body kit. As an option, owners could specify a transmission with shorter gear ratios.
The example on sale was optioned with a 5.7-liter V8 rated at 230 PS (227 hp / 169 kW) and 447 Nm (330 lb-ft) of torque. It had a four-speed automatic transmission and an LSD sending that torque to the wheels. Inside, the owner opted out of power seats and windows, but did order an air conditioner, a cassette player, and cruise control. Judging by the images, the car has aged splendidly with its exterior paint, removable roof panels, interior trim and engine bay all in great condition.
