California-based tuner Blazin Rodz has unveiled a high-end restomod – or, rather, replica – of a 1969 Chevrolet Camaro. It produces around 1,622 PS (1,600 hp / 1,193 kW) and costs an eye-watering $1.6 million.
A 5.8-liter, dry-sump, twin-turbo V8 under the hood revs up to 9,000 RPM and outputs around 1,318 PS (1,300 hp / 969 kW) all by itself. A front-mounted electric motor contributes another 304 PS (300 hp / 224 kW). The resulting all-wheel drive should be able to take the car to 322 km/h (200 mph) and beyond, but all dynamic figures remain to be measured.
Automotive designer Sean Smith came up with a full-carbon bodywork for the build, styling it after the original Camaro but making it wider and lowering the ride height. Adding a spoiler to the trunk lid didn’t feel like enough, so the tuner added a huge rear wing mounting it on the c-pillars.
The chassis is likewise new and possesses “exceptional torsional rigidity,” per Blazin Rods. Adjustable air-ride suspension and “electronic” steering – whatever that means – are currently in the works, so the car is still not complete. The current completion date is “sometime in 2026”.
