50-year-old Chevy Chevelle feels tortured on Donk Style wheels

You do not have to raise your suspension to get more ground clearance; larger wheels can often accomplish the same. Taken to the extreme, the fashion is called Donk Style, and this 1971 Chevrolet Chevelle is its latest victim.

From a purely technical point of view, the sports car is a restomod – and a rather decent one, at that. It sports a refurbished body in gloss red and harbors an LS3 V8 under the hood, which should give it at least 430 PS (424 hp / 316 kW). And then there are those wheels.

We understand the owner’s desire to go big, but 24-inch rims often look oversized on SUVs and pickup trucks, let alone a sports car. To aggravate matters, he went for a ‘tornado’ look with the spokes and put some red accents on them to match the body. The Chevelle ended up with its nose high up in the air and its tail so low as to suggest blown suspension. We shudder to imagine what the abomination feels like to drive and what the visibility from the driver’s seat is.

Donk Style for the win, anyone?
