Ironworks Speed & Kustom has been building sporty Chevrolet Chevelle restomods for a few years now, but their latest work looks like one of their finest so far.
The biggest novelty resides under the hood and comes in the form of a 6.2-liter supercharged LT4 V8. You can find this engine in many Corvettes, where is outputs up to 660 PS (650 hp / 485 kW). The Chevelle gets slightly less – 640 PS (630 hp / 471 kW) – but it’s still way more than it ever had access to back in the sixties. A modern ten-speed automatic transmission delivers the torque to the wheels.
To manage that kind of power, the family hauler runs on a brand-new chassis specifically designed for it by Speedtech ExtReme. Tubular wishbones, JRI coil springs and heavy-duty brakes ensure a level of driving comfort that was simply unobtainable several decades ago.
The interior has also been refreshed and sports a leather trim in the same greenish-blue tint as the body. The steering wheel, the door panels and the dashboard have all been trimmed to match the color scheme.
