Diesel-powered Chevy Colorado goes on sale with a roof tent

Mecum Auctions will be holding its next sales in Dallas on October 15-17, and this Chevrolet Colorado expedition truck will be listed, too. Let’s see what sets it apart from stock.

The main highlight would be the new Duramax diesel engine that commands a whopping 6.8 liters of displacement – more even than the 6.6 liters of the range-topping Silverado HD. No numbers are provided beyond the volume, but it makes sense to expect plenty of thrust and then some.

Another major point is suspension, which now rocks BDS shock absorbers, 5-inch Fox coilovers, a Baja Kits pre-runner and ZR2 Eaton electronic diff locks at both ends. The wheel arches are cut out to accommodate XD Series Machete 17-inch wheels shod in Falken Wildpeak M/T 37-inch tires.

Expedition-friendly equipment includes a roof-mounted tent with a mattress, multiple containers, a water tank and other niceties. LED-based Rigid Industries lighting rounds things off.
