Truck tuner Special Vehicle Engineering (SVE) has unveiled its own take on the Chevrolet Colorado ZR2 that sees its exterior, cabin and engine modified for off-road driving.
The special edition is called Xtreme Off Road and comes with a 4-inch (100-mm) lift kit, 18-inch wheels wrapped in Nitto Recon Grappler rubber, and reinforced traction bars. It sports contrasting accents on the hood cover and subtly flared fenders.
Novelty inside boils down to SVE badges on the headrests and floor mats, but customers can order a full cabin makeover should they want it.
The most interesting part, however, is the engine. In its stock guise, the pickup uses either a 3.6-liter petrol V6 good for 312 PS (308 hp / 230 kW) or a diesel four-pot rated at 184 PS (181 hp / 135 kW). The upgrade swaps those out for a 5.3-liter V8 boosted to 761 PS (750 hp / 560 kW) and 814 Nm (600 lb-ft). This puts the normally tame Colorado on par with the formidable Ram TRX in terms of power.
Only 50 such vehicles will be built starting from $85,000, which doesn’t include the donor truck (you are supposed to procure it yourself).
