Chevrolet Colorado bows with multiple versions for off-roading enthusiasts

Chevrolet has unveiled the next-gen Colorado pickup in five flavors named Work Truck, LT, Z71, ZR2, and Trail Boss. There is also an optional package called ZR2 Desert Boss for those interested in speeding over sand, not getting stuck in it.

All modifications come based on a new chassis that adds 76 mm (3 inches) to the wheelbase length. The Trail Boss additionally benefits from 50 mm (2 inches) of added ground clearance, and the ZR2 improves over that with a 76-mm (3-inch) clearance boost thanks to Multimatic DSSV shock absorbers.

Customers can choose from three versions of the same 2.7-liter turbocharged four-cylinder block. The minimal boost nets you 237 PS (234 hp / 174 kW) and the maximal yields 310 PS (306 hp / 228 kW). The transmission is eight-speed automatic regardless of your choice.

The tailgate now has a built-in waterproof trunk compartment. There are also drainage valves, eight standard mount points, grooves for the transportation of bicycles or motorbikes, and a 110V power socket.

A peek inside reveals an 8-inch digital dashboard and an 11.3-inch infotainment system screen. The base trim level includes a safety package with assorted driver’s aids.
