Chevrolet has unveiled another Colorado modification. Called the Bison, it has the ZR2 spec at its base but benefits from additional off-road performance features.
These include Multimatic shocks rated for higher energy capacity and numerous other suspension improvements. One of the results is 40 mm (1.6 inches) of added ground clearance for a total of 310 mm (12.1 inches). 33-inch mud tires make way for new 35-inch ones wrapped around beadlock-protected rims.
The undercarriage gets stainless-steel skid plates instead of aluminum ones to better shield the fuel tank and the rear differential. An AEV bull bar is installed at the front with towing eyes and preparation for a winch. Thanks to it, the approach angle is now 38.2 degrees. The spare wheel lies in the bed now.
Rounding off the list of mods are inter-wheel diff locks. The engine remains the same: both the ZR2 and the ZR2 Bison use a 2.7-liter four-pot turbo to get 314 PS (310 hp / 231 kW) and 583 Nm (430 lb-ft) of torque.
