This Corvair Monza is actually a Chrysler Sebring in drag

The original Chevrolet Corvair relied on a transverse rear-mounted six-cylinder engine to drive the rear axle, warranting it a mention in Ralph Neider’s book “Unsafe at any Speed”. As you may know, RWD performance cars tend to have traction and cornering issues. The example you see before you, however, is a different story altogether.

What looks like a genuine 1962 Corvair Monza is actually a 2004 Chrysler Sebring hidden beneath an old body. It uses a front-mounted 2.7-liter V6 rated at 200 PS (197 hp / 147 kW) for propulsion, necessitating a sloping hood cover. Having said that, the new cover actually looks sort of cool.

Inside the one-off car are power-assisted seats, power windows and other modern niceties.
