Hennessey Performance measures the Corvette ZR1 at the dyno

The U.S.-based car tuner Hennessey Performance has decided to find out just how good the Chevrolet Corvette ZR1 2019 is when upgraded with the HPE850 power kit.

As its name suggests, the HPE850 kit is supposed to boost the Corvette engine to 850 hp (634 kW). However, the tuner specifies that this kind of performance is only attainable at the driveshaft, while the actual power delivered to the wheels can be ~20% less. All in all, it would be reasonable to expect the 2019 Chevrolet Corvette ZR1 HPE850 to produce around 700 hp on the dyno.

Well, that’s exactly what proved to be the case. The device returned 706 hp (526 kW), an excellent result and one that was expected.

In its production version, the car ships with a 6.2-liter supercharged V8 engine rated at 755 hp (563 kW) and 970 Nm (715 lb×ft) at the crank.
