This 1950s Chevy Corvette is a 2001 Corvette Z06 at heart

Restomodding, as in ‘the restoration and modernization of old cars’, is an extremely challenging hobby that doesn’t always yield great results. Luckily for us, this Corvette Z06 ‘1953 Commemorative Edition by AAT’ is a major success.

Tuner shop Advanced Automotive Technologies (AAT) headed the project. The team worked with a stock 2001 Chevrolet Corvette Z06 (C5) in an attempt to make it look like the original 1953 Corvette.

It should be noted that there are fewer than 200 such restomods in the whole world, and Advanced Automotive Technologies only built six of those. As such, we expect the car to fetch a tidy sum at the upcoming auction.

The Corvette Z06 ‘1953 Commemorative Edition by AAT’ sports an all-new body in bright red styled after the first-ever Corvette, a black interior finish and an LS6 engine under the hood. The latter boasts a custom upgrade by famous tuner John Lingenfelter.

The car only has 15,000 km (9,300 mi) on its odometer and will be on display at the Kissimmee Auction in Florida, U.S.A., on January 3 through 13, 2019.
