Hennessey Performance takes its tuned 2019 Corvette ZR1 to the test stand

U.S.-based performance tuner Hennessey made its HPE1000 power kit available for the 2019 Chevrolet Corvette ZR1 a while ago, but did not make any measurements of its actual efficiency. Today, the company finally put the super coupe to tests.

As it turns out, the car delivers up to 905 horsepower (675 kW) along with 1,144 Nm (844 lbft) to the wheels, which is decidedly impressive, considering the amount of power that inevitably gets lost in the transmission.

To achieve such a remarkable result, the team behind Hennessey Performance made substantial improvements to the stock eight-speed automatic transmission and replaced the majority of engine parts with better ones. It also changed the way the engine control unit (ECU) works.

The 2019 Hennessey Corvette ZR1 HPE1000 boasts a custom high-flow supercharger, forged cylinders and piston rods, the Hennessey camshaft, an improved fuel pump, an optimized air system complete with a new intercooler, a special exhaust manifold and a slew of other parts you would sooner find on a Formula One racecar than a street-legal one.

As per the tradition, the car only has a few “Hennessey” and “HPE1000” badges to show for all the tuning under the hood.
