Interested in seeing a Ford Mustang Shelby GT500 trying to outrun a boosted Corvette C7 ZR1? The scales seem tipped in the latter’s favor, but let’s watch and find out.
In its ultimate GT500 guise, the Shelby Mustang packs a 5.2-liter eight-cylinder mill forced to deliver 760 hp (567 kW) and 847 Nm (625 lb-ft) of torque. A seven-speed dual-clutch transmission conveys the momentum to the wheels.
The seventh-gen ZR1 also boasts a supercharged V8, and one that’s a whole liter larger. The nominal output amounts to 755 hp (563 kW) and 969 Nm (715 lb-ft), and the transmission is eight-speed automatic.
However, the Corvette gets preferential treatment here, taking advantage of a new pulley, deleted catalyst and race gas.
