There are dozens of expensive and rare vehicles in the garage of TV star and avid car collector Jay Leno, but this Corvette stands out – not in terms of monetary value, but in terms of rarity.
The coupe saw the daylight in mid-2000s when Pratt & Miller Corvette Racing Team was looking for a way of building a street-legal Covetter C6.R. Uniting efforts with engine manufacturer Katech, the team fitted the racer with a humongous 8.2-liter V8 rated at 600 hp (447 kW) and 600 Nm (443 lb-ft) of torque. The mill was multi-fuel, meaning it could accept regular gasoline or E85.
The ‘Vette left the workshop sporting a new wide body made of carbon fiber, electronic height-adjustable suspension, BBS centerlock wheels, and new Brembo brakes.
Pratt & Miller had produced seven such cars starting from U.S. $185,000 for the conversion alone (donor vehicle not included). The whole idea lost its appeal when Chevrolet itself unveiled the C6 Corvette ZR1.
