The Lingenfelter team will be showing us its tuned eighth-gen Chevrolet Corvette on November 9, but in the meantime, we are allowed a sneak peek at the car’s track capabilities.
The tuner sets out to improve both the style of the mid-engined sports car and its engine power. As you can see from the short clip, the intake manifold gets replaced with a carbon-fiber aftermarket one, and the same is valid for the cross braces.
Raising the performance may prove challenging, however, because Chevrolet took care to encrypt the ECU properly. Up until now, we haven’t heard of the chip having been successfully hacked. Minor hardware modifications, such as the installation of similarly-specced aftermarket turbochargers, should be possible but major changes will have to wait until a solution is found.
