Gateway Classic is targeting exotic car collectors with this ultra-rare Hydra Spyder vehicle. The amphibian car runs on a Chevy Corvette engine, has only 275 km (171 miles) on the clock, and belongs to a production run of six units.
The 6.2-liter V8 under the hood produces 450 hp (336 kW) on land and permits a maximum acceleration of 200 km/h (124 mph). When sailing, it develops an impressive naval speed of 46 knots. The manufacturer claims both figures were attained with a full cabin of passengers.
The lower body is shaped like a boat and uses aluminum panels, while the upper half is made of plastic. A pressurized air system retracts the wheels momentarily as soon as the driver engages the Amphibious mode.
The ride could be yours for U.S. $189,000.
