Remember Emelia Hartford and her hardcore tuned Chevy Corvette ‘Phoenix’ that survived an engine bay fire less than a year ago? The YouTuber has recently set a new quarter-mile record on her mid-engined ride and has now challenged a mighty Porsche Taycan Turbo to a duel.
The latest ‘Vette utilizes a 6.2-liter bi-turbo V8 engine that gets a plethora of modifications in Hartford’s version, including a methanol injection system and a secondary ECU. The wheels get hit with as much as 1,036 PS (1,022 hp / 762 kW) and 1,277 Nm (942 lb-ft) of torque.
The stock Taycan Turbo is a bit less exciting on paper, although 761 PS (750 hp / 560 kW) and 850 Nm (627 lb-ft) of torque should be pretty damn exciting in any case. On the plus side, the battery sports car can utilize all of its torque right from the start, whereas the gas-powered Chevrolet has to build it up over time.
Three races were held, the first over a 1,000ft. (305m) stretch, the second over a longer 1,500ft (457m) distance, and the third over a 1,000ft stretch again. The first two runs had different winners, and the third one was so exciting to watch that we are not going to spoil it for you. Enjoy!
