Ever felt like owning a genuine movie car? Place your bets: this unique 1963 Chevrolet Corvette Grand Sport is not a set prop, but rather a fully featured custom performance car that you can drive.
Mongoose Motorsports built a total of 12 such Grand Sport vehicles for the fifth instalment of the Fast & Furious saga, but only three have survived the stunt driving and other abuse. This particular example fared much better than all the rest because it was used purely as a green screen car for static scenes and character dialogues; it never even left the filming set, so don’t be surprised that it still looks like new.
As far as the highlights go, the tube-frame chassis comes from a fourth-gen Corvette, and the engine bay is occupied by a 5.7-liter V8 rated at 380 PS (375 hp / 279 kW). An automatic transmission delivers the power to 17-inch PS Engineering wheels, and the body otherwise looks stock.
There is no mention of a minimum price. Mongoose Motorsports sells such Corvette replicas starting from $85,000 without engine and transmission. Given that this is a fully functional car and also the one Vin Diesel and Paul Walker had spent the most time in during the shoot, we wouldn’t be surprised if it came close to a million USD.
