For a while since its launch, the Chevrolet C8 Corvette has remained without major engine tuning programs due to an encrypted ECU. A number of tuners have already devised workarounds, though, and this example rocking 1,250 HP is so fond of the fact it constantly feels like going airborne.
FuelTech outfitted the mid-engined sports car with dual high-performance turbos and a methanol injection system. Other major highlights included a Dodson coupling and GForce Engineering drive shafts. The intercooler was dropped from the configuration for the time being, as the methanol system proved efficient enough in keeping the block cool.
The car then went out for a round of quarter-mile tests. Most attempts to floor the pedal culminated in it rearing up with the front wheels in the air. Despite this, the driver succeeded in repeatedly taking it to the finish line in under ten seconds, the best recorded result being 9.615 seconds. The finish line speed amounted to 237.9 km/h, or 147.8 miles per hour.
Impressive, isn’t it?
