General Motors hasn’t resumed the C8 Corvette production yet due to the ongoing disruption of electronic chip supply, but the car should nonetheless get an update by the end of the next quarter.
The 6.2-liter LT2 V8 now benefits from direct injection that should improve both its peak torque and the RPM range through which it is available. The power stays unchanged at 497 U.S. horsepower (371 kW) standard or 502 hp (374 kW) straight-piped.
Elsewhere, customers may choose from a few new exterior finishes and opt for a Z51 rear wing without having to purchase the entire package.
Prices will begin from U.S. $62,200.
Another highlight comes in the form of the Corvette Stingray IMSA GTLM Championship Edition, a special edition meant to celebrate the victory of the Corvette Racing Ream in the GT Le Mans category of IMSA last year. The past racing season was the first for the brand-new Corvette C8.R, and it showed excellent results.
The limited series reminds us of Corvette racecars with the numbers 3 and 4: the livery looks similar, and a large rear wing is present along with yellow brake calipers. Pop open the door to see bucket seats, a commemorative plaque, yellow safety harnesses, and contrast-rich décor all around.
The technical side of things remains stock, but the Z51 package is already included. The special edition commands a $6,600 premium over the stock model and is limited to 1,000 units.
