Check out the monstrous dual-engined C5 Corvette

16 cylinders, 1,300 horsepower and 1,762 Nm of torque: no, it is not a freshly announced hypercar. It is just a fifth-gen Chevy Corvette outfitted with dual 5.0-liter supercharged V8s.

Double Trouble Hot Rod is no stranger to multi-engine conversions, but its latest project is still highly impressive from a technical point of view. In order to accommodate the twin eight-bangers within the wheelbase, it had to come up with extensive new bodywork, leaving only the doors and the roof intact. Note also the humongous rear fenders and fascia: rather than being a pure fashion statement, both are essential for the powertrain to get adequate cooling.

Elsewhere, the so-called GT-SSC boasts huge wheels, a functional rear wing, and a stretched wheelbase. You can compare it with the stock C5 'Vette linked in the video by Regular Car Reviews.

The one thing we don’t know is whether the two engines can operate in sync. In any case, the ingenuity of the designers alone deserves praise, don’t you think?
