The C8 Chevrolet Corvette is a turning point in the entire career of the iconic sports car. Thanks to its mid-engine layout, it can now offer more power and technology than ever, and its part-electric E-Ray version promises to deliver exceptional performance.
According to Muscle Cars citing anonymous sources, the Corvette E-Ray will arrive packing a large battery and all-wheel drive. Its power will be bumped from 608 PS (600 hp / 447 kW) to 658 PS (650 hp / 484 kW). Chevrolet will allegedly combine a 6.2-liter LT2 V8 with a front-mounted electric motor, enabling a sprint from zero to 60 mph (97 km/h) in around two seconds.
The Corvette E-Ray will probably be able to go in all-electric mode, albeit limited to around 35 km (55 km/h). As for the premiere date, Muscle Cars says next year is unlikely. As such, we expect the hybrid sports car to arrive in 2023 priced under $100,000.
