C8 ‘Vette hits the dyno stand with 1,368 PS

For a long time, tuners had been unable to start working on the eighth-gen Chevrolet Corvette due to an encrypted ECU, but everything changed when a workaround was found. FuelTech has just reported cranking their ‘Vette up to hypercar levels of performance.

Included in the tuning kit are dual Garrett G35-900 turbos, a second fuel system, and two external electronic control units – one for the engine and the other for the transmission. Rather than substituting for the main ECU, these two add-ons find ways to work alongside it, overriding parameters where necessary and keeping things stable.

The net result is 1,368 PS (1,350 hp / 1,006 kW). FuelTech claims the actual output at the crank of the 6.2-liter LT2 V8 could exceed 1,521 PS (1,500 hp / 1,119 kW). Granted, the car is not street-legal, but we can imagine a road-going version appearing further down the line.
