Chevy Corvette E-Ray Hybrid spied testing… or was it?

The author of these photos, who took them near the Nürburgring track, believes they depict a pre-production Chevrolet Corvette E-Ray Hybrid. There is, however, some evidence to the contrary.

The car pictured has a body nearly identical to that of the new Z06, except for twin tailpipes at both sides. The Z06 has its exhaust tips in the middle.

An earlier spy video showed what we also supposed was an E-Ray Hybrid, with a similar view from behind. But with the Z06 being nearly identical, we are not sure anymore.

Adding to the confusion is the fact that the spotted Corvette lacked a ‘Hybrid Test Vehicle’ sticker mandatory for testing part-electric cars on the North Loop.

According to unofficial reports, the E-Ray will combine a 6.2-liter LT2 V8 with a single electric motor for something like 600 – 650 U.S. horsepower (608 – 658 PS; 447 – 484 kW). As for the Z06, it should debut with 616 hp (625 PS / 460 kW) or so.
