Kong supercharger drivers the C6 Corvette ZR1 to 1,000+ HP

Some sports cars rarely get tuned because of their so-so potential, but the opposite is true for the Chevy Corvette ZR1: it can be tuned, but it is pretty amazing on the track as is, so why bother. Nonetheless, one owner felt like getting more than the standard amount of thrust out of his coupe.

As you may remember, the sixth-gen ‘Vette ZR1 packs a 6.2-liter LS9 eight-cylinder engine supercharged to deliver 647 PS (638 hp / 476 kW). This vivid yellow example ditches the stock charger in favor of a Kong 2650 unit. There is also a Kong CFP air intake system, a Kooks manifold, performance-focused fuel pump and injectors, and new cylinder heads. The coupling and the brake system benefit from significant reinforcements.

Tanked with E85, the sports car now slams the transmission with more than 1,000 horsepower (750+ kW). On the outside, modifications include a large front lip, different lights at both ends, five-spoke wheels wrapped in racing tires, and tinted side windows.

We are not told how much faster the tuned C6 ZR1 is in a straight line, but the stock car needs only 3.2 seconds to get to 100 km/h (62 mph) and doesn’t max out until 330 km/h (205 mph). Make a guess how much better this one is, given that it enjoys a 50% power advantage.
