Unfortunate Corvette/Viper offspring fails to find a new home in the USA

This 1976 Chevrolet Corvette haphazardly stylized to look like a Dodge Viper went under the hammer the other day and failed to meet its seller’s expectations with a top bid as low as 15,000.

Curiously enough, the car is not a homegrown Frankenstein monster, but rather a work of RPM Design Limited, which offered its Saber styling package for the Corvette in the 1990s. Included in the kit were lights, fenders with air intakes, a new rear fascia, and a different exhaust system with side pipes running just under the side sills. We are told that only two cars received such a makeover, but this is not official.

The engine bay has also seen its share of modifications. The stock engine went out to make room for a tuned 5.7-liter V8. Upgrades included aftermarket manifolds, better cooling components and more, but the seller neglected to mention the resulting output. A three-speed automatic transmission delivers the power to the wheels.

Elsewhere, the uncanny Corviper features Hotchkis suspension parts, Bilstein shocks, 15-inch Ridler wheels and new brakes with perforated rotors. The interior is trimmed with black and yellow leather. The odometer has less than 8,000 miles (13,000 kilometers) of post-engine-swap range on it.
