Check out a Corvette that hits 390 km/h sooner than McLaren’s F1 does

During the Texas Mile biennale that took place last weekend, a heavily modified Chevrolet Corvette Z06 managed to attain an acceleration of 242.7 mph (390.6 km/h), setting this year’s record and surpassing even the legendary McLaren F1.

ADM Performance, a Texan tuning shop from Lewisville, swapped the stock seven-liter block for a new 6.55-liter V8 that it then upgraded with a couple of high-end turbochargers. We were unable to find a mention of its current power, but a social media post from the year 2015 claims the setup on this car was originally capable of 1,200 horsepower (900 kilowatts). It would only be logical for the latest revision to be even more powerful.

It has to be said that, although the reporters of the event emphasized the speed record as beating that of a McLaren F1, the comparison is not exactly fair. The F1 maxed out at 388 km/h (241.1 mph) during the test and needed a much longer track than a mile to hit that speed. The reason it was included in the comparison is that it was the only production car to achieve such a high result. Out of all tuned supercars to have hit the Texas Mile, the leadership still belongs to a Ford GT that reached 300.4 mph (483.4 km/h) back in 2019.
