This second-gen ‘Vette looks barely distinguishable from the original, but rides on a C7 chassis and handles like any modern sports car would.
Responsible for reviving the 1965MY classis is Retro Designs, a shop based in North Carolina. The team devised custom suspension and chassis components to fit the old Corvette body onto a newer C7 platform seamlessly. The result looks surprisingly organic, and the company claims it handles much better than any vintage sports car would.
Another several hundred hours went into planning the interior layout, coming up with a custom ergonomic seat design, and trimming the whole space with black leather. A modern audio system with Bluetooth support was installed, and the center console received a makeover, too.
A 6.2-liter naturally aspirated LS3 V8 provides the power for the restomod. A six-speed manual transmission delivers up to 436 PS (430 hp / 321 kW) to the rear wheels.
Retro Designs does both restomods and traditional car restorations, with prices starting at $100,000 USD.
